Kit comes in a cardboard box and contains everything needed to perform up to 29 tests (except distilled water): thirty ampoules1, Activator Solution, Neutralizer Solution2, 25 mL sample cup, ampoule blank, 1.0 mL syringe, and instructions.
Vacu-vials Kits require the use of the V-2000 Photometer or a spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13 mm diameter round cell. Instrument sold separately.
1Although the test kit contains 30 ampoules, a fresh reagent ampoule blank must be prepared for each series of tests; therefore, the number of samples that can be tested with each kit will vary from a maximum of 29 to a minimum of 15.
2The Neutralizer Solution is supplied as a dry chemical with NO expiration date. Once reconstituted, it has a shelf-life of 6 weeks that can be extended to 3 months if stored in the refrigerator when not in use.

鋁在地球表層形成多種礦物質。鋁及其合金有很多用途：熱交換器、結構材料、飛行器部件等。鋁（硫酸鋁鉀）用在水處理中作為懸浮顆粒的絮凝劑，但是他的使用可能導致最終飲用水中鋁的濃度升高。飲用水的最大二次污染允許限度為0.05—0.2mg/L。
鋁的Vacu-vials®測試方法是以鋁和鉻花青R（ECR）之間的反應為基礎的，這兩種物質在pH值接近6.0時，反應形成一種紅色色淀，這種色淀的形成于樣品中的鋁的數量成比例。測量結果用ppm鋁表示。
